If you’re reading this, perhaps you’re in your sixties and wondering if professional hearing care could give you the boost to your hearing that you need.
If you’ve been struggling to keep up with conversations with your family, feeling lost or confused during work meetings, or turning up the TV volume, you could be dealing with a hearing loss.
With professional hearing care, you can see lasting benefits to not just your hearing health but your overall wellbeing as well. From a sharpened memory to better balance, a lowered risk of dementia, and boosted confidence, better hearing will keep your entire body happy and healthy, no matter your age.
As with all journeys, the first step is often the hardest. But if you’re here, perhaps you’re ready to take it.
What Happens in a Hearing Assessment?
Your first step on your hearing health journey is to book a comprehensive hearing test. During your hearing test, you’ll learn the fine details of your current range of hearing, including what you can hear, what you can’t, and what you need to do to optimize your hearing to stronger, healthier levels.
Your appointment starts with a conversation about you. Your audiologist will ask a few questions about your health history, any medications you take, your lifestyle choices, hobbies, and more.
We like to get to know you on a personal level (we love meeting new people!), but by sharing this information, you’re allowing your audiologist to gain a deeper understanding of what could have caused your hearing loss, if you’re unsure.
After the consultation, we’ll look inside your ears to ensure that an infection or inflammation isn’t causing your hearing challenges. If there’s earwax that’s blocking your ear canal and affecting your hearing, we can remove it for you.
The testing portion will take the longest, but you can rest assured that your results will be as in-depth and detailed as possible. There are several tests we can include as part of your assessment, including testing for your understanding of speech, the pitches you can comfortably hear, and more to identify the severity of your hearing loss.
You’ll receive your hearing test results on the same day. We’ll go through what your results mean for your hearing and what steps we recommend you take to alleviate any present hearing challenges, whether that means booking annual hearing tests to monitor changes or exploring advanced hearing aid technology.
