Selena was born and raised in El Paso, TX. She achieved her BA in linguistics with a minor in speech-language pathology from the University of Texas at El Paso. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in audiology from the University of North Texas.

Just after her 21st birthday, Selena was left with a pretty significant hearing loss in both ears following a sudden illness. This was a devastating experience for her. Her audiologist helped Selena learn all she could about her hearing loss. This support eventually turned her concerns and curiosity into full-blown inspiration to pursue a career in hearing healthcare.

A typical workday for Selena at Denton Hearing Health Care is spent either on the phone answering calls and scheduling appointments, or on her feet cleaning and checking hearing aids or incoming packages with new hearing aids or repairs. Selena helps any patient who is in need of help with minor hearing aid troubleshooting.

She thoroughly loves her patients, and it is such a joy for her to see them show up at the clinic with a smile on their faces. Selena finds it rewarding when she successfully resolves an issue with a patient’s hearing aid in the office and their face lights up when they realize their device is working again. She also enjoys hearing about a patient’s journey with hearing loss, as she feels she can closely connect with them.

Outside of school and work, Selena enjoys trying new restaurants in the DFW area, FaceTiming with her nephew who is growing too fast back home or relaxing at home with her husband and their three Chihuahuas.
