Alexa Smith
Hearing Aid Technician
Alexa grew up in Katy, TX. She earned her undergraduate degree at LSU and is currently attending the University of North Texas for her graduate degree.
Alexa originally planned to become a speech pathologist. However, her interest in audiology began after taking a class about the anatomy of speech and hearing and learning about the ears while she was a junior in her undergraduate studies.
She then took the next summer to volunteer in the audiology department at the Texas Hearing Institute in Houston, which included working with children with hearing loss in their Project T.A.L.K. summer camp. Additionally, as a musician of 14-plus years, including four years of SEC marching band with LSU, she soon realized how important hearing protection is for musicians in such loud environments. These experiences inspired her commitment to study and work within the audiology field.
Alexa’s daily responsibilities include cleaning and troubleshooting hearing aids, answering phone calls, and helping schedule appointments when it gets busy. The majority of her work is hearing aid-related, and she gets to work with all of our patients, which she enjoys.
Alexa loves the collaborative environment at Denton Hearing Health Care and how the team supports one another. However, the most rewarding part of her job is helping patients reconnect with their communities and the people they love.
In her spare time, Alexa enjoys going to the gym, playing video games, and exploring Denton.
